We’re looking for part-time freelancers with newspaper or magazine experience, although we will consider training promising candidates who have the drive. Current Mid-Valley residents are preferred.
Experienced writers and reporters can expect between $20 and $200 a piece, depending on the assignment. Long-form pieces pay higher. Trainees are paid for pieces as they learn, and can expect earnings growth as their skills increase.
We’ve just celebrated our 10 year anniversary, and we are this area’s only locally owned newspaper. Having been online only during the pandemic, we are now preparing for a return to print. Our goal is to offer readers a diverse mix of deep dive alternative media approaches, alongside mainstream news, and deeply considered analysis. We put a premium on thorough research, excellent use of language, and exceptional storytelling.
