Advocate Clarification: We Endorsed Val Hoyle for Congress, that Shouldn’t be Confusing

Val Hoyle aligns with our views on women’s healthcare and the environment, and that’s why we at The Advocate have endorsed her for reelection. When we issued our endorsements last week, we also offered some positive observations about her opponent, and we stand by those – but that has apparently led to some confusion.

So, we’ll clarify, our Congressional District 4 endorsement was for only one candidate – Val Hoyle, full stop, period.

The Republican in the race posted some of our aforementioned positive observations about her onto social media, which some folks have mistaken as an endorsement for the Republican – and they’re not. To be equally clear, Hoyle’s opponent hasn’t claimed them to be, which brings us to another point.

In a political season, you don’t really want to rely on how anyone is characterizing what someone else has written or said, or even your own impression, without doing just a little homework. So, check out the website for the folks being quoted – when you do that, you have the whole context.
