Gathering Together Farm, a beloved and iconic staple of the Willamette Valley’s organic goods scene, has been listed for sale. The real estate listing describes the property as offering “four decades of successful production, stewardship, and community presence.”
Of course, it’s more than a farm. Gathering Together’s restaurant and farmstand have become destinations in their own right. The restaurant takes grown-on-site organic produce and turns it into brunches, salads, wood-fired pizzas, and more.
The farmstand means folks can buy direct. It offers one of a kind baked goods, house salsa, GTF whole chickens, and other farm made grab-n-go items. They are also an outlet for other producers of local brews, meats, eggs and grains.
In the listing, Gathering Together Farm is described as one of the Willamette Valley’s most iconic organic farm properties, featuring fertile organic soils. The farm sits along the Mary’s River on Grange Hall Road just south of Philomath, in Benton County.
The business
The farm has operated as a certified organic vegetable and fruit operation since 1987, farming more than 67 acres of land in small, river-hugging parcels ranging from one to five acres in size.
Today, the farm operates with a thriving CSA program, a farmstand and restaurant, and participates in 10 farmers markets. At its peak, the farm grows 60 to 70 different types of vegetables in roughly 200 to 300 varieties, supplying a customer base that ranges from individual shoppers at the farmstand to local food co-ops, regional grocers, and premier restaurants in both Corvallis and Portland.
In the Philomath area, GTF is also a significant employer. In the summer months, over 120 workers harvest food and sell at various farmers’ markets around the region. The year-round number is about 15 employees. During winter market, staffing grows to about 20.
The owners are husband and wife John Eveland and Sally Brewer. According to a First Alternative Co-op bio, both come from multi-generational farming families — Eveland from three generations of Iowa farmers and Brewer from five generations of New Hampshire market gardeners.
The farm’s origins trace back to Eveland and Brewer recognizing an opportunity to grow organic food for local restaurants at a time when high-quality, locally grown organic produce was difficult to source — and when the organic movement was just getting started. Eveland was also an early partner in the well-known Corvallis restaurant Nearly Normals Gonzo Cuisine.
What’s for sale
According to the Multiple Listing Service real estate listing, 33.57 acres are for sale, including a 1,919 square foot four bedroom and two bath home. The listing says, “A rare opportunity to continue a legacy rooted in organic markets and hospitality.” The asking price is $1,499,000.
The farm has long been more than a business. Gathering Together donates roughly $20,000 worth of food annually to various gleaning groups and provides an ongoing stream of produce and gift certificates to nonprofits in the community. It has also served as an incubator for other local food businesses, with food artisans like Burnheimer Meat Co. and Weinsteiger Mustard Co. getting their start within the Gathering Together Farm ecosystem.
At press time, neither Eveland nor Brewer had responded to requests for comment. Neither had the listing real estate agent, Paul Terjeson of Keller Williams Realty in Albany.
The farm continues to operate — the 2026 Main Season CSA, which started June 9th, is already underway according to the GTF website.
The fields along the Mary’s River are still being planted, and the farmstand is still serving lunch.
We Advocateers have always loved Gathering Together Farm and all it offers, we wish it and its owners, John Eveland and Sally Brewer, the best in whatever new chapters await them.
