Anne Thwaits to fill in for Cory Grogan as Benton County’s Public Information Officer

On Monday, Anne Thwaits took over as Benton County’s Public Information Officer, or PIO. It’s an interim position, where she’ll fill in for Cory Grogan, who is away on a multi-month military deployment.

Twaits is new to Benton County. According to her Linkedin account, she has served in communications and marketing directorships at the University of Arizona, Tucson Museum of Art, and Interfaith Community Services, Tucson.

She began her career at the University of Arizona, her alma mater, where she gained experience in several fields through communications positions in agriculture and life sciences, information services, fine arts, student services, and the business college. Her work included internal and external communications, both written and visual.

Besides her experience in public relations, Thwaits holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts in media studies with a digital media emphasis. She earned a Ph.D. in museum and community education from the University of Arizona, where her research focused on informal education strategies for lifelong learners.

A release from the County said, “She brings a deep understanding of communications and networking and is efficient at building relationships.”
