Annual Corvallis Watershed Tour Set, Reserve Space Now

On Wednesday, June 10, you’ll have an opportunity that only comes along once a year; a chance for a guided tour of the Corvallis Forest, located in the Rock Creek watershed on the lower slopes of Marys Peak. But space is limited, so you’ll want to reserve now. Info is below for you do that.

The Corvallis Forest is located nine miles southwest of Corvallis, on the east side of Marys Peak adjacent to the Siuslaw National Forest. The Rock Creek watershed provides about 30 percent of the city’s drinking water via the Rock Creek Water Treatment Plant. The tour offers a great opportunity to get a closer look at the forested mountain slopes that capture water that eventually ends up in the City’s municipal water system.

The tour will leave City Hall at 4:30 pm sharp on June 10 and is expected to return to City Hall around 8:30 pm. Round trip transportation will be provided by the City.

This year’s tour will focus on forest management for ecological objectives and the 2026 Corvallis Forest Stewardship Plan update, with visits to several sites in the forest that showcase aspects of the City’s management activities.

How to reserve a space

The tour is free, but space is limited and advance registration is required. To register, call the Corvallis Public Works Department at 541-766-6916 or email publicworks@corvallisoregon.gov.

The tour will take place rain or shine, and will involve walking on gravel roads, so participants should dress for the terrain and the weather.
