We’ll get to the May doing at The Arts Center, or TAC, but first, let’s talk about Cynthia Spencer.
On June 30, Spencer passes the executive director’s torch. She has played a pivotal role in stabilizing TAC during her 10-year tenure. She’s also progressed the TAC into the spaces where art meets contemporaneous social reflections and movements. Intuitive and insightful, she has been someone that embraces change and challenge in the arts.
Now, to honor Spencer’s 40 years serving the arts community, the TAC Board of Directors and Lead Donors have launched a TAC Endowment Campaign, pledging $150,000 toward a $300,000 Campaign Goal. Click here to learn more.
And now, here’s what’s happening at The Arts Center for May…
MAIN GALLERY: Glint, Glimmer, Glow, Kathryn Cellerini Moore
Kathryn Cellerini Moore’s dynamically immersive exhibition, Glint, Glimmer, Glow, will be exhibited in the Main Gallery for six weeks. The exhibit is inspired by solar wind physics, with moving images, micro-organisms, landscape vignettes, and undulating light, projected onto banded tapestries of chainmail, to mimic aurora shapes.
This will be TAC’s first zero-emission exhibit thanks to a robust collaboration with students of The Design for Social Impact Initiative at OSU. They are an engineering team that has designed, prototyped, and built the renewable energy system that will power the show and be a visible part of the exhibit.
Cellerini Moore and members of the OSU engineering team joined TAC curator, Jennie Castle, for a conversation on TAC Makes: A Podcast, on Monday, May 6 – it’s on Spotify and YouTube.
