Before looking toward what’s on offer at The Arts Center for March, let’s take note February’s Howland Community Open set new records this year – we’re talking over 300 participants, and more than 1,500 visitors.

MAIN GALLERY: Heavenly and Earthly Paradise, Nathaniel Praska
Nathaniel Praska reflects on the pervasive theme of hallucinatory fear that’s permeated society since the latter 20th century through work created with hurried scribbles and handmade paint sticks and sculptures crafted from discarded materials and remnants sourced from construction sites.

CORRINE WOODMAN GALLERY: Vivarium, Erin Robinson Grant
Erin Robinson Grant has always been interested in biological boundaries. Where does the boundary between the subjective self and the objective external world lie? Do we consider how our body’s biological systems have uncanny analogs in flora and fauna to which we claim superiority? In this exhibition, Grant’s works attempt to break down barriers between the human body (self) and the natural world (other).

UPCOMING ARTS LEARNING EVENTS: 2nd Saturday Arts Day with Resident Artist, Camila Godoy
Join watercolor artist, Camila Godoy and learn a variety of watercolor techniques with a focus on Spring and nature themes. Create several watercolor pieces and learn how to use other tools such as pens and pencils with watercolor paints.

SPRING BREAK ARTS ADVENTURES: Jen Hernandez
Educator and artist Jen Hernandez will lead students in the process of creating a storybook including inventing new characters, developing stories using classic story structure, practicing book layouts, and binding finished books. For inspiration, students will use picture books, group games, art challenges, and daily Asana (Yoga) practice. Click here for more information.

6th Annual 8×8 Art Gallery
Participate in this annual fundraiser which celebrates arts engagement AND contributes to community well-being. Established, emerging, and youth artists are encouraged to submit original works to be shown in the Corrine Woodman Gallery before being auctioned online. Click here for more information.
