Benton County Dial-A-Bus Fundraising Event

Over the last couple of years, a lot of us came to miss the older folks in our life – primarily because we weren’t allowed to see them. Well, life is getting back to some sense of normal, and those people are still around, so we need to find a way to let them know we’re still here, ready to lend a hand. That’s where Dial-A-Bus comes in, and they need a little help.

If you haven’t heard about them, Dial-A-Bus of Benton County is a non-profit organization that helps those in need get to the places they need to be. And it’s not limited to seniors; they also provide transportation to disabled adults, children and families in need, and those with Americans with Disabilities Act conditions who want to attend local events. They work with some of our local non-profits like Old Mill Center and The Boys and Girls Club, as well as the Benton County Health Department.

Now, Dial-A-Bus is asking the community to give a little back by supporting them through a 65-hour-long fund raising event called Give65 – hosted by Home Instead Charities. The 65 hours in question run from 6:00 a.m. on July 12 through 11:00 p.m. on July 14.

This is the seventh year for the event, and the funds will be earmarked for the support Dial-A-Bus provides outside of their contracted services – like food deliveries, and transport for the unhoused and those who don’t qualify for Benton Area Transit services.

Home Instead Charities is also offering to match donations up to $5,500 while funds are available.

Dial-A-Bus Executive Director Steven Harder says, “The ability to connect with the community is critical to the physical and mental health of [their] elderly clients.”

Lenli Corbett, Executive Director of Home Instead Charities, adds, “Every individual deserves to age with independence and dignity. Through services offered by Dial-A-Bus, their clients are supported and celebrated in their aging journey.”
