If you like those big scissors that officials use to cut ribbons, there may be a pair in County Commissioner Nancy Wyse’s hands at the grand opening of Benton County’s new solar project on Friday, April 22.
The ribbon-cutting event begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Law Enforcement Center located at 180 NW 5th St., and will include County Administrator Joe Kerby, Sheriff Jef Van Arsdall, Corvallis Police Chief Nick Hurley, and folks from Pacific Power.
According to the press release, “The event will feature the unveiling of a sign on the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) that allows viewers to access real-time data from the solar array.” Data will be accessible on smartphones by QR code.
This project is set to generate clean and renewable energy for Benton County residents and businesses. Funding for this project came in part from Pacific Power’s Blue Sky program which certifies that they meet environmental protection standards as created by the Center for Resource Solutions – a nonprofit working toward sustainable energy.
