Coming Q&A Sessions, Sami Al-Abdrabbuh on Saturday, Ron Wyden on Sunday

Two of our duly elected folks will be appearing at in-person Corvallis events this weekend, each will be fielding questions and hearing concerns. On Saturday, it will be School Board Member Sami Al-Abdrabbuh, and on Sunday, U.S. Senator Ron Wyden. Read on for details.

Corvallis School Board Member Dr. Sami Al-Abdrabbuh

Corvallis School Board Member Dr. Sami Al-Abdrabbuh hosts a Government Comment Corner. The event is free and open to the public. No formal presentation is planned. You may drop in at any time during the two-hour session.

Set for Saturday, February 28, from 10 am to 12 pm, at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Ave., Corvallis.

Topics may include:

Al-Abdrabbuh serves as a Director on the Corvallis School Board and is a Past President of the Oregon School Boards Association. He was also Oregon’s first sole nominee to represent school board members nationwide as Secretary-Treasurer of the National School Boards Association.

“As a school board member, my responsibility begins with listening,” said Dr. Al-Abdrabbuh. “Strong governance requires transparency and accountability. Whether advocating in Salem or representing local school boards in Washington, D.C., my focus remains on serving students, educators, and families.”

Oregon’s U.S. Senator Ron Wyden

U.S. Senator Ron Wyden will host a town hall this Sunday, March 1, at 1 pm. This one is at Austin Auditorium at the LaSells Stewart Center, Oregon State University, 875 SW 26th St, Corvallis. Doors will open an hour before the town hall start time.

Wyden has held 1,149 open-to-all town halls statewide – including 11 so far in 2026. He says that record is about keeping his promise to hold at least one town hall each year in each of Oregon’s 36 counties. Honestly, we’re pretty sure he’s doing more than that, but don’t hold us to that.

Also, security is going to be a thing: For everyone’s safety, backpacks and large bags will not be allowed. Similar to major sporting events, there is a clear bag policy, allowing only clear bags (max 12″x 6″x12″), one-gallon clear plastic bags, or small clutches (max 4.5″x 6.5″), plus essential items like medical bags or infant necessities, with no storage for disallowed bags. Backpacks and non-clear bags are prohibited, though medical/infant needs have exceptions.
