The Audubon Society of Corvallis, a nonprofit organization that engages community members on wildlife and natural habitat conservation through local activities, is seeking volunteers throughout the year.
The Corvallis chapter plans events and birding walks, cleans natural areas and teaches community members about birds, wildlife, and the importance of their habitats. Types of volunteering opportunities that are available call for a variety of skill sets and interests: drawing, publicity and outreach, teaching, bluebird monitoring, and more.
Additionally, volunteers and work parties are needed for ongoing maintenance of the chapter’s Hesthavn Nature Center’s trails and grounds, the latter of which include picnic tables, birdfeeders, and a native plant garden. With the exception of special events, the center has remained closed to the public due to COVID, though its trails and grounds are still open every day from dawn to dusk.
For Hesthaven volunteer opportunities, contact the center Chair, Ray Drapek at raydrapek@gmail.com. For volunteer opportunities with the Audubon Society of Corvallis’ education team, contact Co-Coordinators Meika Vingelen or Dodie Wilson at asc.educationteam@gmail.com.
