In 1988, the World Health Assembly adopted a resolution for worldwide polio eradication. Corvallis Half-Marathon. Reser Stadium, 660 SW 26th St., Corvallis. 8 a.m. Free-$90. The Corvallis Half-Marathon is back on April 15th at Reser Stadium on the OSU campus. The half-marathon is a scenic, 13.1 mile ‘Tour de Corvallis’ that’s mostly flat with two slow gradual climbs, and two gradual descents. The 5k is one of the flattest around. The entire course is on paved roads, sidewalk and bike paths. Registration is free for the family-friendly 1K, $40 for the 5K, and $85 for the 13-mile. Logging Sports Regional Championship. Peavy Arboretum, 8692 NW Peavy Arboretum Rd., Corvallis. 8 a.m. The Oregon State University Forestry Club is hosting the annual Conclave, where forestry teams from throughout the West converge for the Association of Western Forestry Clubs Regional Meet Championship. The logging sports competition will be held at the George W. Brown Logging Sports Arena in Peavy Arboretum from April 12-15. Events include axe throwing, pole climbing, buck saw events, birling (log roll on a floating log), and more! The students will also be competing in technical events such as wood identification and estimating lumber yield from timber stands.
