McDonald Forest 50K Trail Run. Forestry Cabin, Peavy Arboretum, 8392 NW Peavy Arboretum Road, Corvallis. 7 a.m. $75 or $100. This will be the 28th running of “The Mac” one of the oldest ultrarunning races in Oregon. A true old school gem, it is run primarily in Oregon State University’s McDonald Forest. Come experience the smooth lovingly-maintained singletrack trails. The race boasts one of the sweetest finishes of any race, a pine needle cushioned downhill trail. The forest is in full bloom in early May; the dogwoods are glowing and the delicate calypso orchids dot the undergrowth. There are scenic views of the Cascades, the Coast Range and Soap Creek Valley. This year we will have more single track trails and will return to McCulloch Peak, the highest point in McDonald Forest. There will be at least $400 in prize money. Corvallis Area Trailrunners is the 501(c)(3) public charity that distributes all the race proceeds which support local middle and high school cross-country teams, the Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit and the OSU Research Forest. Northwest Spring Fest. Student Experience Center Plaza (SEC Plaza), 2251 SW Jefferson Way, Corvallis. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This is a student-run event sponsored by the Oregon State University Program Council, in conjunction with OSU’s annual Spring Family Weekend. Camas at Marys River Park in Philomath. Marys River Park, 300 S 11th St, Philomath. 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Free. This small park in Philomath has meadows, a picnic area, a disc golf course, and a forest along Marys River. It’s a great place to see both species of camas blooming, and there will be many other wildflowers to see, as well as birds. It will be an easy, flat walk of less than a mile. Some trails may be muddy if it’s wet. Please bring binoculars and dress for the weather. Please don’t bring dogs. NOTE: This is not Marys River Natural Area in Corvallis, we will email you full directions after you sign up. Registration is required, as space is limited.

Monty Python’s Spamalot. Majestic Theatre, 115 SW 2nd St., Corvallis. 2:30 p.m. $18 or $20. Monty Python’s SPAMALOT tells the legendary tale of King Arthur’s quest to find the Holy Grail. Lovingly ripped off from the 1975 classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Rotten Tomatoes: 98%). Spamalot retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show folks, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. Corvallis Sustainability Coalition Quarterly Gathering. Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Ave, Corvallis. 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. Free. A diverse mix of local sustainability efforts will be highlighted at the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition’s next Quarterly Gathering on Monday, May 6, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library. The gathering will feature brief presentations by three Coalition partners and one Coalition action team. The public is invited. Presentations by Andrea Myhre of Corvallis Housing First, Kate Dillon of 1972 Vintage & Gifts, and Kirsten Miller of A Tuttle Consults will highlight what their organizations are doing to help create a sustainable community.
