Discover how media shaped public life, changed how we interact with the world, and brought families together in front of screens, radios, and newspapers. Put a Bird on It! Finley, Feathers, & Fashion. Corvallis Museum, 411 SW 2nd St, Corvallis.

Utilizing many of the taxidermy birds from the Horner Collection, this exhibit will look at the connections between fashion, feathers, and the conservation work of William L. Finley. This fun and educational exhibit explores the fascinating world of onomatopoeia—words that imitate the sounds they describe. From “meow” to “woof” and “cock-a-doodle-doo,” onomatopoeic words bring animal sounds to life. Designed for visitors of all ages, this exhibit offers a hands-on experience for preschoolers and anyone curious about how language shapes the way people hear the world. Available through October 26. Beyond Time is an immersive installation by Eugene-based artist Kum Ja Lee, presenting a thoughtful exploration of temporality through the use of transitory light, diverse fibers, and mixed media. Black History in Benton County Tour. Corvallis Museum, 211 SW 2nd St, Corvallis. 2 pm. Free. Learn about the Black pioneers of Oregon’s early days who faced discrimination yet made Benton County their home. Featuring the stories of three African-American individuals who settled in Oregon before this region was even a state, the tour gives context to the national controversy over slavery in the mid-1800s and its impact on Oregon demographics even today.
