Enjoy the scenic view of Mary’s Peak and scout out the perfect pumpkin, solve the corn maze, climb the hay pyramid, and take part in kids’ activities. You can buy pumpkins, gourds, mini-pumpkins, and fall veggies and apples while visiting, and of course, grab a bag of homemade donuts and fresh pressed apple cider. They will be accepting cash and check for all proceeds to be donated to Jackson Street Youth Services and ABC House two awesome organizations that serve youth in Linn and Benton counties. Corn Maze & Haunted Maze. Melon Shack, NE Garden Ave at NE Highway 20, Corvallis. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. $4 – $16. The melon Shack annual harvest actives will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday September 23rd! This year’s activities will be open seven days a week 10:00 am – 6:00 p.m. Activities include Pumpkin patch (over 6 acres of pumpkins), Day maze w/trivia (over 4 miles of trail) – $6 (last entry into day maze is 5 p.m.), Super Slide – free, & Hay fort – free. The following activities will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.: Hayride – $4 pp & Train ride (3 & under can’t ride alone) – $4 pp. The Melon Shack haunted corn maze will open on Friday September 29th – October 28th from 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm. Mackessy is Professor of Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado. His research broadly encompasses the biology of venomous snakes and the biochemistry of snake venoms, and he has published over 200 scientific papers, book chapters and natural history notes, and several books (Handbook of Venoms and Toxins of Reptiles, 1st & 2nd eds. – CRC Press; The Biology of Rattlesnakes II – ECO Herpetological Publishing). His research has included many post-doctoral, graduate and undergraduate students, as well as colleagues from Singapore, Spain, México, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, France, India, University of Texas and various US universities. Several ongoing projects focus on understanding the evolution of venom systems in snakes and the biological significance of venom compositional variation, as well as investigating potential therapeutic applications of toxins.. His research program has been supported by many local, state and national funding agencies.
