Teal Co-operative Art Gallery. Downtown Corvallis, 328 SW Second Street, Corvallis. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. The Teal Co-operative Art Gallery has a reputation as the place to shop for hand-crafted, unique, made-in-Oregon gifts. Each year their team of dedicated Oregon artists transform an otherwise vacant and lifeless store front into a world of color, light and beauty, open for business during the months of November and December. On display and for sale are some of the finest works in fiber, leather, pottery, jewelry, glass, metal, wood work, mixed media, paper, and soap that the central Willamette Valley has to offer. A portion of the Gallery’s sales is donated to schools and programs in the community. Preschool storytime is for children 3-5 years old and happens every Thursday from 10:30-11:00 AM. Storytime is offered year-round as a drop-in program: first come, first served. Día de los Muertos Celebration @ CMLC. Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center, 2638 NW Jackson Ave., Corvallis. 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Free. Join the Multicultural Literacy Center for a Día de los Muertos Celebration at the Corvallis Multicultural Literacy Center (CMLC)! Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a celebration to honor and keep alive the memory of loved ones that have passed. While the ceremony originated in México, it is celebrated all over Latin-America. You are invited to celebrate the lives of loved ones that have passed away. Celebrate with music, food, crafts de alfeñiques (sugar skulls), pan de muerto, calaveritas (poetry), hot chocolate. A community altar at the CMLC is set-up is ready to hold our community members’ photos, instruments, favorite objects, flowers, fabrics, and more. Join this community altar by bringing the ofrendas for your loved ones and register your contributions with your contact information directly to the CMLC.
