Corvallis Arts Walk. Downtown Corvallis, Corvallis. 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Free. Visit downtown Corvallis to tour the working studios of our local artists, see them at work, and view their art! The Corvallis Arts Walk (CAW) is a grass-roots organized art walk that takes place on the 3rd Thursday of each month in downtown Corvallis from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Galleries, studios, arts and crafts stores and the occasional pop-up keep their doors open late to host an art-related event or demonstration. Chamber Music Corvallis: Spanish Brass. First Presbyterian Church, 114 SW 8th Street, Corvallis. 6:45 p.m. $35-$150. Chamber Music Corvallis’ 64th season will take you on a tour around the world and across many centuries, from Scandinavia in the 20th century, to Haydn’s Esterhazy Palace, to Spain, to the underground railroad in the American South, and finally ending in Gershwin’s America. Join Chamber Music Corvallis before each concert for a short presentation beginning at 6:45 p.m. These pre-concert talks are free and open to all with the purchase of a concert ticket. The talks will provide historical and cultural context for the music you’ll hear in the concert with the hope that it will enrich your listening and open up a dialogue about these works. The Tempest. Majestic Theatre, 115 SW 2nd St, Corvallis. 7:30 p.m. $16 -$18. This beloved Shakespearean classic has a little bit of everything: love, tragedy, revenge, drunken butlers, airy spirits, shipwreck, and wizardry. Prospero, a practitioner of the magical arts, and his young daughter Miranda are betrayed and stranded on an uncharted island, populated by a single islander, Caliban, and many spirits who delight in creating mischief. Through his wizardry, Prospero engineers a tempest, and a shipwreck which gives him the opportunity to exact revenge against those who wronged him. The play forces the characters and the audience to confront questions about redemption, forgiveness, reparations, and the power of love as a force for regeneration.
