2008 Throwback Party. Block 15 Downtown Pub, 300 SW Jefferson Ave., Corvallis. 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Party like it’s 2008! Join Block 15 for an all day event which will include a special limited Sticky Hands release, 2008 beer prices, and throwback food specials. Block 15’s 15th Anniversary Sticky Hands variant features The Past – a base malt of Thomas Faucet pearl malt, The Present – their current kettle hopping of specially selected NW hops and co2 extract, and The Future – a dry hopping of new age Superdelic New Zealand hops and high oil Cascade. Corvallis Arts Walk. 4 p.m. Visit downtown Corvallis to tour the working studios of our local artists, see them at work, and view their art! The Corvallis Arts Walk (CAW) is a grass-roots organized art walk that takes place on the 3rd Thursday of each month in downtown Corvallis from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Galleries, studios, arts and crafts stores and the occasional pop-up keep their doors open late to host an art-related event or demonstration. Walking maps of the event can be picked up at any of the storefront members or viewed at wwwCorvallisArtsWalk.com. This in-person event will follow all state and county COVID-19 safety guidelines to keep our community safe and healthy. This includes mandatory mask-wearing regardless of vaccination status, and occupancy limits to maintain 6 feet of social distancing at all times. Chamber Music Corvallis: Thalea String Quartet. First Presbyterian Church, 114 SW 8th St., Corvallis. 7:30 p.m. $26. The Thalea String Quartet brings their signature vibrancy and emotional commitment to dynamic performances that reflect the past, present, and the future of the string quartet repertoire while celebrating diverse musical traditions from around the world. Fueled by the belief that chamber music is a powerful force for building community and human connection, the Thalea String Quartet has performed across North America, Europe, and China, and has appeared at the Kennedy Center, Massey Hall, and Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall. They have shared the stage with luminaries of the chamber music world, including members of the Emerson, Borromeo, and St. Lawrence String Quartets, and they have performed alongside celebrated artists including Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, violist Lawrence Power, acclaimed Canadian band BADBADNOTGOOD, and visionary hip hop artist Jay Electronica. With their program “Legacies,” Thalea String Quartet explores the American traditions of rap, rock, and bluegrass to tell stories of the Black experience. Connecting the new to the old and the traditional with the popular styles, they will present works by contemporary composers, The Beatles, and Antonín Dvořák. Tickets are $26 each.
