On display and for sale are some of the finest works in fiber, leather, pottery, jewelry, glass, metal, wood work, mixed media, paper, and soap that the central Willamette Valley has to offer. A portion of the Gallery’s sales is donated to schools and programs in the community. 2023 Marston Lecture: The Dive of a Lifetime to the Deepest Place on Earth. The LaSells Stewart Center, Oregon State University, 875 Southwest 26th Street, Corvallis. 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Free. During this lecture, Dr. Dawn Wright (aka Deepsea Dawn) will talk about this dive, imaging technologies and implications of discoveries. In the summer of 2022, Dr. Dawn Wright (aka Deepsea Dawn) became the first Black person of any gender to dive to the deepest spot on the entire planet – Challenger Deep – in the western Pacific Ocean, in collaboration with Victor Vescovo and his Caladan Oceanic team. During this lecture, Dawn will talk about this dive—including the geospatial and imaging technologies used on the dive, discoveries from mapping this part of the world in history-making detail, and implications of discoveries for future ocean science.
