Corvallis Fire Department have been extraordinarily busy. CFD ran 62 calls in a 24-hour period, including a structure fire in Philomath. They are also experiencing significant wait times in the ER to get their patients in a room.
CFD are working with their partners to do everything they can to get their units clear and available, but it has been challenging.
They prepared for this weather event at CFD by ensuring their chains fit (tires and boots) and having ice melt on hand. Additionally, CFD implemented up-staffing from Saturday to Monday to ensure they were ready.
During the last ice storm, CFD transported many people who walked outside to “see how bad the ice was” and subsequently fell. Many had broken bones and other injuries. CFD are staffing up and trying to meet the demand.
CFD have asked the public to please stay home if you can, the roads are not improving, and more ice is in the forecast.
Stay home, stay warm, and stay safe!
