The annual summer road construction season is underway in Corvallis, with resurfacing work on portions of 9th Street, Technology Loop, and Fernwood Circle expected to conclude by the end of July. This work entails asphalt grinding and paving, restriping, and improvements to Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) sidewalk ramps.
Blocks that are involved in these projects include the following:
- 9th Street between Polk Avenue and Reiman Avenue;
- Technology Loop between 53rd Street and Philomath Boulevard; and,
- Fernwood Circle between Kline Place and Fernwood Place.
Construction work can be expected to typically occur between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with occasional work slotted for Saturdays on an as-needed basis.
While construction is underway, periodic traffic impacts may include reductions to one lane of travel on 9th street in each direction; short-duration redirections of traffic on Technology Loop to protect the work zone; closures to through traffic and retained access for local traffic at Fernwood Place; etc. Traffic impacts won’t disrupt services such as garbage collection and mail delivery in these locations, and signage and detours will be in place to help guide drivers.
The Corvallis Transit System (CTS) will continue to serve these areas as per usual, though bus riders can stay apprised of any changes made to CTS routes or stops by checking the city’s website.
