After years of telling everyone there were 8 Days a Week, someone finally let us in on an inconvenient factoid: there are only seven. Well, ^%#@!. Why didn’t anyone say something sooner? Thanks a lot. But oh well, we were overdue for a little “out with the old, in with the new” anyway. In the spirit of change, say hello to Créme de la Corvallis, our brand new top picks column.
Créme comes action-packed with a focus on music and art, but also just cool stuff in general. We’ll siphon the cream of the crop from the calendar and give you an expanded look at what’s going down, as well as why you should be there when it does. More information, less redundancy, and possibly even better writing! Though let us work on that last one…
In the meantime, enjoy while we pound away on the formatting over the next few weeks. Also, be sure to let us know what you think via editor@corvallisadvocate.com. We love hearing from you! No, seriously, we actually do. Sad, but true.

The Road Sodas @ Calapooia Brewing Company
140 Hill St. NE, Albany. 8 p.m. Free.
The Road Sodas are rumored to be quite the live band, coaxing some great classic rock and folk from their instruments of choice, which are… well, the kind you play that kind of music with. They’ve been known to toss in a cover now and again as well. Food. Beer. Rock. I can’t seem to locate a website for them, but the rumors come from trusted sources. Please take a gander at calapooiabrewing.com/blog/
Corvallis Arts Walk @ All Over the Place
If you didn’t catch our CAW coverage last issue, you can still search it up online. None of them are really “to miss,” but this one is perhaps especially not to miss. Oregon State University artist educators and students have gone gangbusters. I don’t know what that means, but I hear my grandmother say it all the time in these kinds of situations.. Be sure to check out http://www.corvallisartswalk.

Overneath @ Cloudy and Kelly’s Public House
126 SW First St., Corvallis. 10 p.m. $5.
I have yet to jam their tunes up my ear holes, but I have it on very good authority that you’re going to want to. Experimental jazz grooves are on the menu, and really, it’s a Cloud & Kelly’s show. There’s a bad show there what, never? Or at least somewhere between never and a blue moon. To keep up with the latest and greatest info, slap the following link into your Interwebz speed dial: cloudandkellys.com/.
Ludicrous Speed @ Bombs Away Café
2527 NW Monroe Ave., Corvallis.
10 p.m. $5.
“Scandalously swanky ska,” says the press release, and of course it’s totally true. You do know Ludicrous Speed, right? I’m not terribly into ska, but these folks tear it right up. Take a listen for yourself via this hand YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?

Christmas Variety Show @ Imagine Coffee
5460 SW Philomath Blvd., Corvallis. 2-4 p.m.
What’ll be happening at this variety show? I’ve got no idea, but it’s bound to be a whole bunch of cool stuff. Besides, can you think of a better place to hang out as the holiday approaches? Certainly not at home in front of the news, I can tell you that much. For a possible dose of further information, click on over to imaginecoffee.net.

Pencils, Pen, and Drink with Friends @ Bombs Away Café
2527 NW Monroe Ave., Corvallis.
8 p.m. Free.
This recurring event is the bee’s knees (only because they won’t let me write something more obscene). Why? Because it’s A. Bomb’s Away, and B. Bomb’s Away. You show up, drag the posse along, and get sauced (or not), enjoy some delicious grub, and draw peni-… I mean, draw things all over some stuff with some stuff. Do you suck at drawing? Even better. Trust me. If you’ve never done one of these kinds of events, please do. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t enjoy themselves. For more information, feast your eyes on bombsawaycafe.com/music-art/.
