While folks can still file to run for Corvallis City Council or Mayor – candidate forums are already starting.
Indivisible Benton County and Our Revolution-Corvallis Allies have set an event for Wednesday, August 12 from 6 to 8:30 pm at the Corvallis-Benton County Library.
Their release says each of the candidates will make brief introductory statements followed by questions for each. If you’d like, they’re welcoming folks to submit questions via emails to voter@indivisiblebc.org.
“This is a great opportunity for voters to get to know our local candidates,” said one of the event organizers Karen Shell. “Local elections are more important than ever as city and county governing bodies are called upon to make decisions that intersect with controversial issues at the national and state levels, like the use of FLOCK surveillance cameras in our community, the impacts of data centers in the Willamette Valley, or how to protect our immigrant neighbors.”
“ORCA is excited to co-host this event with Indivisible Benton County. Our community thrives when we encourage civic engagement and help candidates reach a broader audience,” added Holly Shutta, event organizer from ORCA.
Who the Hosts Are
Our Revolution Corvallis Allies says they work to improve the community by fighting for the Pillars of Social, Racial, Economic and Environmental Justice. They also said they support progressive groups in our area and seek to elect progressive candidates to local and state offices.
Indivisible Benton County says they are part of a progressive, pro-democracy grassroots movement committed to defeating the right-wing takeover of our government and to building a democracy that welcomes all.

The filing window for non-incumbent candidates runs until August 25, 2026. The City of Corvallis recommends that all forms be submitted by August 20, 2026. For more information from the City, click here.
As always, The Corvallis Advocate will host candidate debates this election cycle, probably in October.
