Gift Possibilities, Corvallis Arts Walk Happens Thursday, Dec. 18

As holidays are near, arts events move, with some exceptions, toward familiar and comfortable themes. This month’s Corvallis Arts Walk offers opportunities to both find that special last-minute gift and support our local arts community. Here’s what’s on deck.

Art in the Valley, 209 SW 2nd Street

Paintings by Phyllis Johnson: Memories of my Moggies. Those familiar with Phyllis Johnson’s cat paintings are aware that she’s a crazy cat lady. Being ‘cat less‘ at the moment prompted the urge to paint portraits of some of her past furry friends. These paintings capture some of their individual quirky personalities and the joy they shared. After leaving the business world, Phyllis followed her lifelong passion for art by taking classes from many talented local artists in Corvallis. In addition to being an exhibiting member of Art in The Valley gallery, she’s shown at the Guistina gallery, the Corrine Woodman gallery, and many other sites in Oregon.

The Arts Center Corrine Woodman Gallery, 700 SW Madison Ave, Open 4-7 pm

See Yourself in Art – Susan Pachuta. Susan Pachuta will speak about her exhibition, See Yourself in Art, at 6 pm. The exhibition serves as an invitation to everyone to recognize their own creativity as a vital part of themselves, as well as the community. By purchasing one of her works, you are supporting the arts community of Linn and Benton counties. Each piece is $25.

The Green Show. From the deep emerald tones of shaded forests to the timeworn patina of aged copper, this exhibition invites artists to explore green in all its forms— its presence in the natural world, its symbolic ties to energy and transformation, and its emotional resonance in our lives. Show runs October through December 10th.

Corvallis Foundry Gallery, 257 SW Madison Ave Suite 210

Lighthouses//fortlings by Heron Dawley. This two-part collection of castles and domicilic golems in vibrant vector linework and digital sketches, each based around a titular one-word theme, explores the personalities we ascribe to buildings, machinery, and objects. Dawley, a multidisciplinary artist from Corvallis, is currently at large.

Adrienne Fritze Art Studio, 460 SW Madison Ave Suite 12, Second Floor

Borders by Us – A riot of creativity sparked by a simple line. Borders by Us brings together friends, neighbors, first-timers, seasoned artists — and one brilliantly unexpected 3D twist — all working from Adrienne Fritze’s hand-drawn Borders. What emerges is a shimmering mix of fantasy, abstraction, story, surprise, and sheer “Oooooh-ness.” Each piece takes the border and boldly wanders past it, proving (beautifully!) that the magic lives in the hands of the collaborators. Come see how far a border can go when a whole community pushes the edges together.

LBCC Chinook Hall Gallery, 931 NW Reiman

Student Artist in Residence Show. Each year, two advanced art students are selected by the LBCC Visual Arts Department to create a body of work for exhibition in Chinook Hall on the Corvallis Campus. This year’s featured artists are Mika Winder and Daisy Zambano-Gomez. Winder, based in Albany, explores themes of feminism, horror, and surrealism through drawing, painting, digital art, and doll-making. Zambano-Gomez, a Mexican-American artist, examines sexuality, femininity, and self-expression, sharing her journey to inspire peace and acceptance in others. The exhibition runs from October 2025 through May 2026.
