Helping Others in Corvallis, Benton County

If you’re looking for a way to get your feet wet – maybe even a little squishy – then here are some fun places to volunteer in the coming weeks.

Septembeer Fest

The 15th Annual Septembeer Fest is happening Saturday, September 10 at Avery Park, located at 1200 SW Avery Park Dr., Corvallis, and they could still use a little friendly help. The fest is, as you likely guessed, all about beer – and the Mid-Valley has several fine ones to taste. Last year, there were 76 beers, ciders, and meads to try from 26 different breweries.

On top of the drinkable fun, there will be an earful of music from Funky Friendship & Cosmic Love, The Dan Kaufman Bans, Side Hustle, and Camp Crush. All that music will take you from noon to 7:00 p.m.

To volunteer at the fest, you can find out how right here.

Funk in the Forest

Slated for September 17, this locally owned, grassroots Corvallis music festival is a great way to start to learn about local bands and meet their fans. The funk starts at the Thompson Shelter in Avery Park, located at 1200 SW Avery Park Dr., Corvallis, and will run from 3:00-10:00 p.m.

This year will feature DTW, Space Neighbors, Jobe Woosley & Co, Josh Makisky & Friends, Manny Martinez, Drew Medak, Alpha Ready, and Ronni Kay.

Corvallis Fall Festival

Corvallis Fall Festival is a chance to see lots of beautiful art and run a marathon before it gets too chilly outside to do either. And yes, they need a few extra hands to make things go smoothly.

They are still in need of people to set-up, take-down, and keep things moving forward throughout. If you’re interested, you can find out more here.

Running from September 24-25, this two-day event held at Central Park, located at 650 NW Monroe Ave., Corvallis, will be open 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Corvallis Parks & Rec

If you’d like a long term volunteer opportunity, then check out Corvallis Parks & Recreation.

Between the Parks Division with its tree stewardship program; the Corvallis Community Center and the need for instructors; the Majestic Theatre if you’re into stage crafts; and the Osborn Aquatic Center where they always have ways to get your feet wet, there are always extra hands needed.

To look into these options, check out the Parks & Rec Volunteer Page here.

Benton County

If you’d like to reach beyond the border of Corvallis, the county has one or two opportunities to lend a hand as well.

You could be out in the fresh air planting seeds or pulling weeds – every trail needs a little cleaning now and then and here’s how to find out more

The Sheriff and District Attorney have volunteer programs for Reserve Duty, Search and Rescue, and Victim Assistance.

There are also opportunities to help at the Health Department, the Fairgrounds, or to be a Community Ambassador. Check all of the Benton County options here.
