Interns File Sex Harassment Suit Against Oregon Legislature

Sexual harassment allegations aimed at Oregon’s State Senate will now move to the courts.

Two past interns have filed suit against former Oregon State Senator Jeff Kruse,  who resigned after allegations of sexual harassment. Also named in the suit, the Legislature, the Senate president and others. Seeking millions of dollars in damages, Anne Montgomery and Adrianna Martin-Wyatt allege the Legislature acted with callous indifference.

Kruse’s regular harassment of women at the State Capitol became widely public after Corvallis State Senator Sara Gelser came forward as one of his targets.

The lawsuit claims, the Legislature’s attorney Dexter Johnson, and human resources director Lore Christopher, permitted the two interns to be placed in Kruse’s office, knowing they would be harassed.

Kruse, a Republican, had represented Roseburg. He resigned after investigators found he’d touched women inappropriately.
