On Thursday, we sat down with Oregon’s 4th Congressional District Rep. Val Hoyle for a wide-ranging interview – we covered topics both legislative and personal.
Hoyle recently voted to table a resolution to impeach President Trump, and her views on the War Powers Resolution have now made headlines over the administrations of two presidents, each from different parties. Those views have now influenced her stance on the recent U.S. strikes on Iran. More broadly, she makes deeper comments on the current conflict in the middle east than what one generally hears.
Outside the usual headlines, Hoyle unwraps why she worries about legislation currently moving through congress and speaks to why it’s not had the impact on the zeitgeist that it might otherwise have. She also details specific concerns she has about the Trump administration’s antiterrorism staffing – and on that point, what emerges is especially concerning.
We also cover the current hostilities among members of congress and escalating political violence – including what that means for her own security, and how her family is coping with it.
The video runs about 25 minutes.
