Justice System Campus Site Selection Deferred

Lady Blind Justice

Site selection for the Justice System Improvement Program has been delayed. The program staff and Commissioners are reviewing community feedback as well as the options open to them.

The Board of Commissioners Meeting has been rescheduled to a special Commission Meeting to be held on November 30. County Chair Xan Augerot, this delay allows the county to take “additional time to thoroughly examine all of our options.”

She went on to say that much of the community feedback asked the program to slow down the process and look into alternative sites. As it stands, the county has two letters of intent to purchase two properties in West Corvallis and South Corvallis.

The proposed Improvement Plan campus is expected to have a new courthouse, a crisis center intended to support community members facing mental health crises, a corrections facility, and a sheriff and emergency operations building.
