LBCC Bond Measure for May’s Ballot

On February 16, the Board of Education at Linn-Benton Community College added to the May ballot a request for a $16 million bond, which would open the college to receive a matching appropriation from the State of Oregon of $8 million – meaning the total benefit to LBCC would be $24 million.

If the bond passes, LBCC plans to use the money to construct a new Agricultural Center, renovate the LBCC childcare center, and make other critical facilities repairs – all of which would be subject to independent auditing. Additionally, this bond would make LBCC eligible for future state and federal childcare grants.

The taxpayer cost of this bond would be 7cents per $1,000 of assessed value of property.

Chair of the LBCC Board of Directors, and Sweet Home representative, Kristin Adams, said in a press release, “Passing this bond ensures state matching funds are spent right here in our community, creating employment opportunities and improving the livelihoods of Linn and Benton residents.”
