Karen Holmberg, associate professor of literature and creative writing at Oregon State University’s School of Writing, Literature, and Film, will discuss Shelby Van Pelt’s popular novel Remarkably Bright Creatures as part of the library’s Random Review series Feb. 14 at noon. The program will take place in the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library’s Main Meeting Room.
Van Pelt’s best-selling debut novel delves into the watery junction where human lives intersect with those of intelligent sea creatures. Readers follow the emotional journey of recently widowed Tova Sullivan as she befriends Marcellus, a cranky giant Pacific octopus at the aquarium where she volunteers.
