Corvallis filmmakers Joe Sherlock and John Bowker will be screening a locally-made horror movie every Monday in October at Corvallis own indie theater, Darkside Cinema. All shows are at 7 p.m. 7 p.m. and all proceeds from the $8 tickets benefit the theater.
Monday, October 5 – “Blood Creek Woodsman,” written by John Bowker and directed by Joe Sherlock. A year after a brutal massacre, the killings have begun again. The town Sheriff, his estranged wife, deputy and a reporter must get to the bottom of what’s going on while the bodies pile up around them! Includes the short film “DEVIN AND THE DOLL” from Oregon writer/director Amanda Schukle before the feature. Get your picture taken with Deputy Nathan!
Monday, October 12 – “Tales of the Wicked,” written and directed by John Bowker. A trapped man must fight for his existence by telling four tales. Tales of extreme jealousy, vengeance, betrayal and power. Will he survive to see another day by telling the tales of the wicked?
Monday, October 19 – “Homegrown Horrors,” written and directed by John Bowker. Meet your realtor, making her first sales video for a house that has just come on the market. Along the way, she has a few stories to tell about the house. Stories of strange and horrific things. Nightmarish events that are beyond belief. You know how there are some places where bad things just happen? This place is one of them.
Monday, October 26 – “Dead Eyes Behind the Painted Smile,” written and directed by Joe Sherlock. A good portion of this movie was shot right at the Darkside Cinema! A twisted serial killer aims to satisfy his murderous bloodlust, donning a clown mask and pursuing a young theater worker and her friends. As the slasher slices and hacks his way through innocent victims, will Jenna survive the night? Featuring Kelli Maroney (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Night of the Comet) as Dr. Clifton.
Also of note for the Halloween season are the Darkside’s showings of 1971’s Legacy of Blood (October 6), 1972’s Horror Express (October 20) and 1920’s silent Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde shown with a performance of live music.
