Majestic Removes Mask, Vaccine Requirements for Spring Shows

On April 4, the Majestic Theatre removed mask requirements and vaccine verification for live shows, following the cessation of limiting capacity in March. Any ticket holders who are concerned or uncomfortable with these changes can request a refund.

The announcement did not come with any further information of what might happen if Covid cases rise again, or if any of the actors test positive. Theatre Supervisor Jimbo Ivy said he spoke with staff, volunteers and patrons — in addition to reviewing other theaters’ policies — before making the changes.

The next in-person show will be The Great Gate of Kiev, a G-rated “musical tour through Ukraine,” with special guest pianist Asya Gulua on Saturday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m.

The award-winning, PG-rated Matilda will run from  April 29 to May 22 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. American Sign Language interpretation will be available on May 21.

Queen, a PG-13 story of friendship, environmental responsibility, and how personal commitments can challenge professional success, will play the weekend of May 21–22 at 7:30 p.m.

Open auditions will be held for William Shakespeare’s Wars of Roses on May 23 and 24 from 7 – 9 p.m. Director Rachel Kohler said, “The only thing that’s going to be more exciting than watching this play is being in the play.”

Actors who are interested in auditioning must be 18 or older. Callbacks will take place on May 25 at 7 p.m.
