Correction: The original story cited KEZI as reporting these arrests. KEZI was relaying information from the Oregon State Report.
The body of a young girl found dead nearly a year ago has been identified, and arrests have been made, according to a report from The Oregon State Police.
The young girl in question was 9-year-old Haley Coblentz. She was found dead on Dec. 10, 2020, in the H.B Van Duzer Scenic Corridor. She had been dead for at least 30 days prior and was concealed in a duffle bag.
A sketch was released to the public with the goal of identifying her, though this was unsuccessful. Rather, a DNA match in October of this year was what identified Coblentz.
Police said she was born in Colorado and was living with her mother, 29-year-old Shawna Browning, and her partner, 34-year-old Lauren Harrison. Both guardians failed to report her missing at the time of her death.
With the help of the Detroit FBI, investigators from the Oregon State Police located the two women in Detroit, Michigan. They were arrested yesterday, Nov. 30, and a search warrant was issued on their vehicle and hotel room.
The two are being held without bail in Wayne County, Michigan, on aggravated murder charges.
