OR Lawmakers Seek Expanded Healthcare Access

On the agenda for Oregon lawmakers is a proposal that aims to expand access to primary health care throughout the state for both behavioral and physical health.

House Bill 4083, if passed, would require insurance companies that offer both individual and group plans on the federal health insurance marketplace to offer three free primary health care visits to patients each year by 2024.

The bill would require that every insurer would have to offer at least one plan in each category bronze, silver and gold – that offers the three free visits

The bill was introduced in the House Health Care Committee earlier this month with Representatives Rachel Prusak, D-Tualatin/West Linn, and Raquel Moore-Green, R-Salem, signing on as chief sponsors.

The bill will need to be approved by the House Health Care Committee.
