OSU Announces 15 Fulbright Semi-Finalists

In 2021, 21 Oregon State University students or graduates submitted applications for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program with help from the National and Global Scholarships Advising Office. Of those 21 applicants, 15 were named as semi-finalists.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program awards grants for teaching assistantships or research projects that occur in participating countries outside the U.S. every year.

The OSU Fulbright semi-finalists are Lili Adams (B.S. 2020), Stan Cates (B.S. 2020), Mikayla Chen (graduating senior), Julia Clark (B.A. 2020), Jacqueline Delie (M.S. 2020), Conner (Sage) Fox (B.S. 2020), Julia Kim (B.S. 2020), Angelika Kurthen (Ph.D. student), Christina Linkem (graduating with M.S.), Miriam Lipton (Ph.D. Student), Hannah Mankle (Ph.D. Student), Saki Nakai (B.A. 2021), Jane Vinesky (graduating senior), and two anonymous students.

LeAnn Adam is the scholarship office’s advising coordinator.

She said, “Our students come from many different backgrounds and academic disciplines, making them excellent ambassadors of the United States, OSU, and the Fulbright program. These semi-finalists have shown incredible creativity and persistence through the pandemic: many of them are reapplicants from last year when fewer scholars were able to travel abroad.”

The Fulbright finalists will be chosen in the spring.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, OSU had four Fulbright scholars in the U.S. Student Program, one of whom is also a semi-finalist this year: Conner Fox.
