The P. Wayne Valley Sports Performance Center, which is the weight room facility for football and other sports at OSU, will get a $3.5 million remodel this summer. The costs are donor funded.
Upgrades will include new weight room equipment, lighting, floors, and a Gatorade station.
Donors include a former OSU football player, and the family of two former players – they all wish to remain anonymous.
Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes told The Oregonian it’s been 15 years since the last upgrade.
“It had become outdated and a bit antiquated,” Barnes said. “It was not quite as effective for a facility that oversees 500 student-athletes. From a recruiting perspective, it’s nice to be able to show off a state-of-the-art facility.”
In other work: The Hall of Fame front entrance area will also get a $750,000 facelift, which also donor funded. Additionally, a new women’s locker room will be built, the cost of that project will be $2.3 million.
