The 67th annual Hō‘ike – formerly known as the Lūʻau, an event that celebrates Hawaiian dance and culture, takes place April 16 at The LaSells Stewart Center, located at 875 SW 26th St on the Oregon State University Corvallis campus.
The name changed this year to more accurately represent the event, which focuses on the performances, although food will continue to be a part of the event. The word hō’ike in Hawaiian means to demonstrate one’s knowledge.
The title of this year’s hō‘ike is “Ke Au O Ka Hula, Hula Over the Years.” It will focus on the history of hula and Hawaii. Doors open at 3:00 p.m. The show begins at 4:00 p.m. Guests will be provided with a bento box dinner after the show.
