March 8, 2022 marks International Women’s Day, and Oregon State University is participating by bringing in a webinar about women in the workplace on March 8 and 9 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The webinar will feature Reshma Saujani, CEO of Marshall Plan for Moms and founder of Girls Who Code.
Marshall Plan for Moms – named after the original Marshall Plan or the European Recovery Plan wherein the U.S. provided aid to Western Europe in 1948 to assist economies in 17 countries – calls on the U.S. to now accept that same responsibility to assist that safety net Americans constantly rely on – its mothers. The organization is a national movement centered on providing economic recovery to women as a means of offering fewer barriers and more choices to working mothers.
Girls Who Code is exactly what you would imagine. This organization is encouraging females to get past that stereotype that “girls can’t do math” and fight for their place at the computer. They are “building the world’s largest pipeline of future female engineers.”
Saujani will be in conversation with Tim Allen, CEO of Care.com – a company built to help families provide safety at home so they can continue their careers knowing their children and elderly are safe. “They will discuss how the private sector can lead on innovating and advancing equitable workplaces, as well as share their own experiences of parenting during a pandemic and the many exposed truths of navigating the personal and professional.”
To attend the webinar, you can register through their Zoom link. The sessions will be happening at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 8 and 9.
