OSU’s Football Coach Stays Through 2027 Season

Oregon State University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Barnes announced Friday, Nov. 26, that current OSU Head Football Coach Jonathan Smith has agreed to his new contract with the university. He will stay on as head coach through the 2027 football season.

In Barnes’ statement, he credits the Beavers’ improvements as a team to Smith’s coaching, saying, “A strong foundation has been laid for success and the future of Beaver football is bright due to Coach Smith’s leadership.”

The Beavers have been improving their game, as they are now Super-Bowl-eligible for the first time since 2013.

The details of Smith’s new salary haven’t been made public, though the press release did say that it has increased from the previous $2.5 million, as Oregon Live reported.

Smith, in his own statement, said that he wanted “to thank the Oregon State administration for making this commitment to our football program.”
