The public comment period for a proposed housing development that would occupy 41.45 acres and create a 45-lot subdivision for single family homes has been extended an additional 14 days. The Preserve Housing Development is envisioned to be built near McDonald Forest, above Timberhill off 29th St.
Project Developer Jim Boeder said this decision was made after the public asked.
“Since the city provided additional information, just before the hearing,” Boeder added. “The additional information involved how to treat the Conservation-Open Space areas that are included in four lots. [It] was a minor addition, but the public wanted more time to respond to it.”
Boeder, a member of the Planning Commission, and part owner of the 42-acre plot of land considered for the project, said he will not be involved in any final decision making.
“I have not been/will not be involved as a member of the Planning Commission in this matter.”
He then again assured residents they will not lose access to McDonald Forest.
“Don’t believe everything – or anything – you read from opponents. I’m not only providing Quercus Trail public easements and improving, but am providing/improving another trail from the existing Timberhill path at the south property boundary, exiting at future Goldfinch,” said Boeder. “I’d originally proposed having this [and] another on [the] west side continue to Mac Forest, but OSU Forestry Dept. objected to that.”
Further discussions on the development are set for the commission meeting on Feb. 16.
