Corvallisites are invited to an upcoming Edible Garden Tour, and like previous years, it’ll be free, and we think time well spent. As usual, it’s offered by the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition’s Food Action Team, so kudos to all those volunteers.
So, here’s the skinny. The tour welcomes both new and experienced gardeners, as well as anyone who wants to see some amazing food-producing gardens.
Set for Thursday, August 14, the tour will run from 5 to 8 pm. Join whenever or wherever you would like, this tour of seven inspiring gardens in Southwest Corvallis is self-guided. Each features a variety of edibles for both people and pollinators. Tour locations are:
- 3290 SW Willamette Avenue (Willamette Gardens)
- 3293 SW Long Ave
- 3303 SW Long Ave
- 3428 SW Chintimini Ave
- 3225 SW Cascade Ave
- 3315 SW Cascade Ave
- 3435 SW Cascade Ave
Participants are welcome to begin their tour at any of those sites and to determine their own order in which they’ll visit the various gardens. The host gardeners will be on hand to talk to participants about their gardens and to answer questions. Tour maps and free copies of the 2025 Corvallis Garden Resource Guide will be available from docents at each of the sites.
You can carpool
Parking is limited in the neighborhoods, so alternative transportation or carpooling to the event is encouraged. All of the gardens are within just a few blocks of each other, making the tour accessible to walkers and bikers. The organizers say this is a hilly area of Corvallis, so they’re hoping folks will know to expect that.
More info
This is the twelfth year of the Edible Garden Tours. The goal of the tours is to encourage Corvallis area residents to grow some of their own food. In addition to fostering greater self-reliance, the Food Action Team hopes to involve more people in the joys and health benefits of gardening: regular exercise, fresh air, healthful and delicious food, and a sense of connection to their community — and to the earth.
