It’s National Voter Registration Day – which is a nonpartisan civic holiday started in 2012 that is dedicated to celebrating our democracy. It’s also an excuse for us to nag our unregistered readers, and you know who you are, so please get registered.
You can register at OregonVotes.gov/register. The deadline to register to vote to receive a ballot for the General Election is October 15, 2024. But, why wait… it’s easy, we promise.
Beyond registering at OregonVotes.gov/register, you can also choose to register by completing a voter registration form and returning it to your local and very friendly county elections office. Notice how we snuck in that OregonVotes.gov/register link a second time there, and oops, now a third time.
We really-really want you to vote. The usual reminders apply: to register to vote in Oregon, you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Oregon, and at least 16 years old, with ballots being issued once you turn 18 years old.
If you’re already registered and need to update your information, like if you moved or changed your name, you can visit My Vote tool.
For this upcoming election, ballots will be mailed on October 16, and Election Day is November 5.
Remember, only you can stop orange forest fires, and closer to home, this year brings several open and contested Corvallis City Council seats that are up for grabs – and those races are actually pretty freaking interesting this cycle.
