Reserve a Ride: State Capitol Climate Emergency Rally on Feb 11th

On Tuesday, February 11th, 2020 from 12 to 1:30 pm, advocates of all ages and backgrounds will be joining at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem to encourage state officials to declare a climate emergency in our state.

Declaring a climate emergency not only means that the government accepts the current conditions, but also that they understand the current measures being taken are not enough to fight the issue. By rallying for this official declaration, protesters are pushing for the entire state of Oregon to accept climate change and enforce changes and solutions quickly. Some are advocating specifically for a new and improved climate bill that will advance change more efficiently.

According to the Climate Emergency Declaration campaign, 1,348 jurisdictions in 26 countries have thus far declared a climate emergency. This includes jurisdictions in the United States — most notably, New York City, Boston, and Miami.

A number of organizations from around the state will be attending this day of action. Corvallis residents and OSU students are encouraged to attend.
