Sunday saw the 2022 National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Summer Conference. During this meeting, Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan was selected to serve as the Western Region Vice President on the Executive Board of the NASS. Additionally, she was elected to serve as the Treasurer of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State.
One of the oldest nonpartisan professional associations in our nation, NASS acts as a way for public officials to collaborate and share information between secretaries of state and lieutenant governors. They meet every year to discuss elections, voting, state archives, and state business services.
“When it comes to the fight for this nation’s democracy, I’m all in,” said Fagan in a press release. “Oregon elections are the gold standard in the nation. I’m excited to take a leadership role in NASS to share Oregon’s two decades of experience with vote-by-mail and bring the best ideas from our neighbors back to Oregon.”
This November will be the first time that the Oregon Elections Division will have access to the funds required to “prebunk” false voting information. Fagan is leading the #TrustedInfo2022 campaign to ensure voters have access to the most accurate information possible.
They’ll provide numerous videos and documents in various languages to break down election security and the new postmark law, among other topics.
Secretary Fagan also serves on the Executive Board of the Democratic Lieutenant Governors Association.
