Just after midnight on October 4, Corvallis Police answered a 911 call to the 2800 block of NW Deer Run Place while they learned from their Dispatchers that someone had been stabbed and a suspect was already being restrained by neighbors. Officers arriving found a man on the ground, his hands zip-tied behind his back. They later identified the man as Heber Gonzalez, age 25, of Hillsboro.
They then found another man, Juan Ramirez-Miguel, 38, also of Hillsboro, who had a stab wound in his chest. Corvallis Fire Department EMTs arrived, rendered aid to Ramirez-Miguel and transported him to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, where he currently remains medically stable.
Police interviewed Ramirez-Miguel and witnesses, learning that Gonzalez had recently joined the same construction crew where Ramirez-Miguel was working. While working together on a concrete driveway, Gonzalez allegedly stabbed Ramirez-Miguel with a folding knife, and Ramirez-Miguel fled into the street.
Gonzalez allegedly pursued Ramirez-Miguel, picked up a 6-foot metal pole, and beat Ramirez-Miguel with it. Ramirez-Miguel eventually tackled Gonzalez. Others arrived and zip-tied Gonzalez’s hands as he threatened to kill everyone present.
Gonzalez was booked into the Benton County Jail, charged with assault in the second degree, unlawful use of a weapon in the second degree, coercion, menacing, and disorderly conduct in the second degree.
