For Oregon’s Congressional District 4, where we Corvallisites live, two term Democratic Representative Val Hoyle has pulled out a large lead. Corvallisite Melissa Bird had sought to challenge Hoyle from the leftmost part of the party.
As stands, Hoyle is at 41,633 votes to Bird’s 10,025. That’s 77.81% to 18.74%. Third place challenger Daniel B. Bahlen has 1.474 votes, or 2.75%.
Hoyle is seen as a staunch advocate for organized labor, working families, and environmental conservation. She has secured federal funding for a number of projects throughout the district; including here in Benton County. Recently, she introduced the No War Act, seeking to cut funding for the war in Iran.
Monique DeSpain appears to have secured the Republican nomination, which means a rematch. It was DeSpain that ran as the Republican against Hoyle in 2024 as well.
As stands, DeSpain has 37,140 votes, or 86.61% for this year’s Republican primary win. Hoyle is favored to win this contest in November.
Drazan likely headed for a rematch against Kotek
Republican State Senator Christine Drazan is leading her party’s gubernatorial primary with 113,903 votes, or 43.27%. Second place Ed Diehl has 84,688 votes; 32.17%. Chris Dudley is in third place with 15.62%
Measure 120
Yeah, Measure 120 is going down to defeat, presently the no votes have it, 83.10% to
16.90%. This means gas taxes and DMV fees will not be increasing. Anticipating the outcome, state officials have already been scrambling for how to respond.
U.S. Senate, State Senate, State House
Jeff Merkley was heavily favored to win the Democratic nomination for a fourth term as Oregon’s junior U.S. Senator. It currently appears he’ll face Republican David Brock Smith in November’s general.
Corvallis’ State Senator Sara Gelser Blouin is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination. If she wins in November, it will be her fourth term. She will again face Republican Valerie Draper Woldeit in November’s general, who is also running unopposed for her party’s nomination.
Corvallis State Rep. Sarah Finger McDonald has run unopposed for the Democratic nomination for a second term. No Republican has filed to oppose her.
None of the results are official yet, we’ll keep you updated.
