The Arts Center this Month: Intimate Struggle Meets Industrial Imagery, Zines Make a Reading Room, New Classes

After the hyperlocal Howland Community Open and months of highlighted Oregon State University artists – a wider net pulls new voices and visions into The Arts Center this month. In the Main Gallery, artist Steve Ehret’s intimate struggles meet with industrial Midwest imagery, and the Corrine Woodman Gallery becomes a reading room for a nationwide collection of zines.

Classes for adults, teens, and tweens are also on deck. So, without further ado, here’s what happening at The Arts Center, or TAC, this month…

MAIN GALLERY: Resting My Bones, Steve Ehret

With Resting My Bones, Ohio artist Steve Ehret explores intimate struggles with death, separation, and fatherhood. Ehret’s paintings and drawings magnify the beauty of the mundane through imagined landscapes inspired by the industrial Midwest. Ehret presents creatures and personified emotions who distract and impeach his personal growth while continually embracing the humor, beauty, and magic found in everyday life.  Click here for more information.

Ehret will be working on a mural in the gallery at the opening reception, and he welcomes questions about his practice.
