You may have noticed the City of Corvallis website went down this morning and that it’s now back up. According to City spokesperson Patrick Rollens, nope, the current strike was not the cause.
Rollens says the website went down at 8 am this morning. Service was restored at around 3 pm.
When we asked about what took the site down, Rollens answered the message that was up on the provider’s status page, the City uses a third-party provider’s platform, said that the web content platform had been taken offline as a precaution due to a security vulnerability affecting PHP and that it may affect that particular website product. The status page also said there is no evidence that customer data has been compromised.
Rollens added, “That’s all we know at this point.”
Prior to service being restored, we asked Rollens about this having to do with the strike, he said, “This outage is NOT related to the strike. It is a systemwide outage that is affecting all of the customer websites that use this particular platform.” He noted the City of Philomath is another customer that uses this same web content platform, and that their website had also been unavailable.
