This month, there will be two virtual open houses related to transportation.
The first will be hosted by the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Public Transport Division. This open house will deal with the Pedestrian and Bicycle Strategic Funding Program. According to the Public Transport Division’s website, “…the Oregon Transportation Commission approved an increase of $55 million for pedestrian and bicycle projects in the 2024-2027 Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan. The money is dedicated to addressing critical gaps for walking and biking on the state system. At least 10 million will be used to improve walking and biking access to schools.”
They request that you take a survey that asks what you think about the project in your community and which projects you think would have the most impact, as well as concerns or ideas for improvements you have. The open house will remain available until Sunday, Oct. 31.
The second open house will be hosted by the Corvallis Area Metropolitan Planning Organization regarding their update to the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). There will be two sessions, one at 11:30 a.m. and another at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25.
Each session will last an hour and feature a presentation of future scenarios and a Q&A. The RTP is described as “…projects and policies to guide the development of a multi-modal transportation system (including transit, highway, bicycle, pedestrian, and accessible transportation) which meets the region’s economic, transportation, development and sustainability goals, while remaining fiscally constrained.”
More information about the RTP can be found here.
