With the crazy weather that we’ve been having recently, some are resorting to sandbags to combat flooding. If you find yourself in need of sandbags, here’s where to find them.
Before you rush out to find the bags, the Avery Facility asks you to follow these rules:
- You will need to bring your own shovel, as they’re not provided.
- Empty sandbags and a filling station/frame are present, though you can bring your own bags if you like.
- Community members need to call in advance and check in with Public Works before showing up. Call (541) 766-6821.
The Avery Facility sandbag station is located in the southwest corner of the complex, next to the Sheriff’s impound yard. Other locations to get sand include:
Willamette Park, next to the community gardens. Call (541) 766-6916
Circle Boulevard, east of Walnut Boulevard at the Stage 3 barricade on the northside of Circle Boulevard. Call (541) 766-6916
Philomath Public Works, located at 1515 Willow Lane where after-hours filling is permitted. Call (541) 929-3579
Benton County Public Works, located at 360 S.W. Avery Avenue. Call (541) 766-6821
